Support TPF

The Thurman Perry Foundation June 2022 Newsletter!

Summer has begun! And it’s nearly Juneteenth, a holiday celebrated as the acknowledgement of when the last enslaved persons in Galveston, Texas gained their freedom in 1865. BUT, did you know that slavery never really ended? It was codified into the constitution to continue via the imprisonment and servitude of the incarcerated. As Juneteenth approaches, support TPF as we provide aid incarcerated women and girls, especially Black women.

We could not achieve the amazing things we have over the last month without you, our TPF Community! We want to thank you again for joining us as we strive to change lives.

A Note: I recently spoke about the violence in Uvalde, Texas, and the unspeakable tragedy that ripped apart that town and a classroom of women and children with Jezebel. Violence and an overall cultural attitude of hatred against women and girls is often the preceding event to mass acts of violence, as studies show. The Thurman Perry Foundation will always be focused on helping to create a world that is safe and filled with opportunity for women and children.

You can find my thoughts in the article below. Please read and share with others. We need to stand together to stop violence against women and children in all of its forms.

Sincerely,

Gabrielle A. Perry, MPH
