There is no us without you! The Thurman Perry Foundation May Newsletter

As we close out the month of May, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has supported The Thurman Perry Foundation.
There is no us without you, which is a truth that’s been powerfully evidenced by the outpouring of support during the current pause in our Mother’s Day 365 program.
I’m truly moved—almost to disbelief—by the generosity we’ve seen in such a short time. Since May 1, we’ve received $12,000 in donations toward restarting Mother’s Day 365. Your support reminds us that even in challenging times, our community shows up with compassion and action.
This month, we celebrate the upcoming expansion of our Girl Code program to two new states: Maine and South Carolina. Which will increase the number of facilities we serve to nine in five states across the US. You can learn more about our budding partnership in South Carolina inside!

We could not do what we do without you!
As we’ve shared before, we are now in our second year of losing key recurring grants. One major loss came after a headline-making lawsuit against one of our funders, targeting them for supporting Black-led and women-led organizations. This year, we’ve seen even more threats to organizations focused on equity and human rights.
These setbacks have deeply impacted our ability to run the Mother’s Day 365 program, which is often ineligible for traditional grants due to its nature as a direct-giving initiative. And yet, this program is crucial, as it helps keep mothers and their children housed in the midst of the worst economy and job market we’ve seen in decades.
At The Thurman Perry Foundation, we do everything we can to help women and girls thrive beyond their circumstances. But we can’t do it alone.
Please consider making a donation today at the link below. Help us restart this life-saving work and continue to support women across the country.
With love and gratitude,
Sincerely,
Gabrielle A. Perry, MPH
