Welcome to The Thurman Perry Foundation

We are an award winning Louisiana-based nonprofit operating nationally dedicated to bettering the lives of women and girls impacted by incarceration.

We work tirelessly to improve the lives of women and girls impacted by the criminal justice system. We focus on direct giving, educational assistance, and advocacy to assist them in returning to and rebuilding their lives. Our vision is to remove obstacles to success & ensure that every woman and girl receives a fair chance to thrive and succeed.

Encouraging Education

The Perry ‘Second Chances’ Scholarship provides formerly incarcerated women and the daughters of incarcerated people who are currently enrolled in an accredited 2-4 year college, university, trade or vocational school with one-time scholarships to supplement their tuition, fees, or other essential resources that they need to thrive in their educational endeavors.

Providing Provision

Our Girl Code Program™ aims to ensure that all currently incarcerated women and girls have access to the high quality period care products they need. We currently serve 10 facilities in Louisiana, Texas, Maine, South Carolina, and New York: Orleans Parish Justice Center, East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, Louisiana Correctional Facility for Women, A New Way of Life New Orleans, Southern Maine Women’s Reentry Center, Albion Correctional Facility, Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women, Taconic Correctional Facility, Oconee County Detention Center, and Eden’s Place, A non-correctional Juvenile residential facility, with more to come.
