The Perry ‘Second Chances’ Scholarship

The Perry ‘Second Chances’ Scholarship

Mission: To support those striving to better themselves and pursue higher education despite their pasts.

Gabrielle Perry, MPH founded The Perry ‘Second Chances’ Scholarship Award in honor of her late father, U.S. Army Master Sergeant Thurman Perry Jr., to help women and girls impacted by incarceration pursue higher education and change their lives. It is the flagship program of The Thurman Perry Foundation.

The Perry ‘Second Chances’ Scholarship Award was created to offer multiple, one-time scholarships to women and girls impacted by incarceration who are currently enrolled in a 2-to-4 year accredited college, vocational school, or university. The scholarship opens annualy on November 15th.

In memory of U.S. Army Master Sergeant Thurman Perry Jr., known for the generosity and kindness he showed towards others regardless of their station in life, his daughter, Gabrielle Angelique Perry, a formerly homeless and formerly incarcerated woman who is now an epidemiologist specializing in infectious diseases, offers these generous awards on an annual basis.
