U.S. Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley’s Website
In December, TPF Founder Gabrielle Perry, MPH joined U.S. Representatives Ayanna Pressley, Cori Bush, and Hakeem Jeffries to unveil and endorse the Fair Independent Experts in Clemency Act aka, the FIX Clemency Act.
This historic legislation aims to transform the nation’s clemency system and help reduce the U.S. rate of mass incarceration. It is the most recent legislation introduced as a part of Congresswoman Pressley’s People’s Justice Guarantee, a decarceration-focused resolution designed to create a fair criminal justice system.
“Our growing mass incarceration crisis is rooted in white supremacy and has ravaged our communities, destabilized families, and exacerbated generational trauma for far too long,” said Rep. Pressley. “Our bill would confront this crisis head-on by transforming our broken clemency system—which is plagued by secrecy, inefficiency, and systemic bias—and instead centering justice, equity, and transparency.”
