TPF Featured on WDSU News
TPF Founder Gabrielle Perry interviewed with WDSU’s Christina Watkins to discuss National Crime Prevention Month. In the clip, Gabrielle discussed how she is using the two primary initiatives of The Thurman Perry Foundation, the Perry ‘Second Chances’ Scholarship and Girl Code, to help alleviate period poverty in Louisiana prisons and jails and give women and girls impacted by incarceration a second chance at getting their education.
“Crime is not this moral dilemma that it’s so often framed as. It’s the result of food insecurity. It’s the result of housing insecurity. It’s the result of gender-based trauma. And if these things can be addressed and the public can be educated on how these things happen, then that leads to prevention. That leads to real solutions.” – Gabrielle Perry, TPF Founder.
Watch the video to learn more about Gabrielle’s story and how she is helping to prevent crime in her own way on WDSU.
