Thank You Thank You Thank You! The Thurman Perry Foundation August Newsletter

What a whirlwind! I can’t believe August is already over. This has been one of the most challenging months of the year with wrapping up our first ever summer scholarship (meet our winner inside), expanding Girl Code to New York, and running our largest fundraiser of the year, our #BlackAugust campaign for National Black Philanthropy Month.

We are a small but mighty organization and as we grow all of our initiatives around the nation, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of your support this month and every month. It is absolutely incredible how you show up for The Thurman Perry Foundation!

We could not do what we do without you!

To our organizational partners, our grantors, our donors, our social media family, and all of you who are a part of our TPF community, thank you. When I say we could not do what we do without you, I mean that. I started TPF 3 years ago with $2,000 hoping to create a scholarship in my father’s name. I could never have imagined raising over $60,000 in one month to sustain a national organization. I could never have dreamed I would provide hundreds of thousands of menstrual products to incarcerated women across the country. I could never have known that I would help an expecting mother go back to school to achieve her dream of helping deliver children safely and with care.

You help me dream bigger and do more. You show me that a girl from Louisiana who was incarcerated, homeless, and branded as someone who wasn’t worth the care and consideration of others can become someone who makes a real difference. There is no us without you. We are all in this together and I can’t thank you enough for joining me on this journey.

Thank you for continuing to support us!

Sincerely,

Gabrielle A. Perry, MPH
