Goodbye Spooky Season! The Thurman Perry Foundation October Newsletter

We at The Thurman Perry Foundation hope you all had a safe and happy Halloween! The month of October was full of milestones and we are so grateful to you all for your continued support of us and the women we serve! As we enter the holiday season, we are excited to finish out the year strong. We have three things to ask of you and anyone you know as we continue to try and build a foundation and stability at The Thurman Perry Foundation:

First, tell at least one person to subscribe to our new Substack newsletter, Bad Girls Bi-Monthly (BGB). BGB is a supplemental part of The Thurman Perry Foundation’s efforts to educate the public on the plight of women and girls. Featuring current events, news articles written by myself and other contributors, and a safe space to connect on the feminist anti-carceral lens, join over 700 subscribers as we continue to advocate for women and girls.

Second, consider a $25 donation to The Thurman Perry Foundation for Giving Tuesday! We are 2.5 years into our journey at The Thurman Perry Foundation. We would like to use all donations to support our Mother’s Day 365 housing relief program, which has been on pause since May due to lack of funding to support our formerly incarcerated pregnant women and mothers.

Third, tell at least one person to subscribe to our newsletter at www.thurmanperryfoundation.org and our Instagram at @thurmanperryfoundation! It helps us when we apply for grant funding to show just how many people support our work!

We could not do what we do without you!

Every milestone we reach as an organization reminds me of just how far we have come since launching The Perry ‘Second Chances’ Scholarship with $1,500 from my savings in 2020 to now getting ready to cross $100,000 in scholarships awarded with our 4th cycle in 2024. Girl Code started with a donation of just over 1,400 organic pads I bought from target to donating 200,000 organic menstrual products to facilities across the country. Mother’s Day 365 began as a way for me to honor all the mothers who have watched over me in my life and we are working to fund that program to run monthly next year.

I still can’t believe we’ve done so much in under 3 years. Without your help, none of this would be possible. We love you all. Very deep.

Sincerely,

Gabrielle A. Perry, MPH
